idCAT (UPF)
What is it
idCAT Certificat is a digital identificator issued by the Catalan Open Administration Consortium (AOC). Once you install the certificate in the browser you will be able to:
- Identify yourself securely to carry out procedures over the Internet.
- Sign electronic documents with legal validity.

How to apply for it
Anyone who needs to operate with public administrations can ask for an idCat certificate. For foreign citizens a valid passport or official ID card is needed. Check the requirements to request the idCat.
In order to apply for it:
- Request the certificate by filling the application form (if UPF does not appear on the form, choose any other idCAT registration office).
- Go to any PIE in the UPF Campus or to another idCAT registration office to validate your identity with a valid document. Please provide a photocopy of your ID or passport.
- You will receieve the link to download your idCAT certificate in your email address.
Duration and renewal
- Duration: idCAT certificate is valid for 4 years.
- Renewal: idCAT certificate can be renewed once from the computer in which it is installed. To do this, follow these instructions.
If your certificate was previously renewed, you will need to re-validate your identity with PIE (UPF) or at any other idCAT registration office.

Technical requirements
The idCAT certificate is compatible with the most widely used operating systems and browsers. Check if your configuration allows the use of idCAT.

Export and use in other devices
When installed, it is advisable to export the certificate in a file and store it in a safe place.

What to do if you lose or damage your idCAT
If you have lost your idCAT, it has been damaged, or the computer where it was installed is not working, you can call 902 90 10 80, identify yourself and answer a secret question (that will be set during your registration process). Your certificate will be suspended.
For 120 days you can re-activate your certificate at any PIE desk of the UPF, or at any other idCAT registration office.
If you want to revoke the certificate voluntarily, you need to ask for it at a PIE desk of the UPF, or at any other idCAT registration office, with a valid identification document.

- In wich procedures can I use an idCAT?
idCAT is an electronic certificate for individuals, which can be used in any procedure of Spanish public administrations requiring a digital certificate: ministries, labour or treasury systems, city councils, etc.
It cannot be used in those procedures that require a certificate of public representative or public worker.
