The fifth edition of the HackForGood, held at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, took place in Barcelona on March 9, 10 and 11. This is a hackton was promoted by Telefónica and organized along with the Telecommunications ETSI of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, the "HazloPosible" Foundation and the MashmeTV startup, with the support of the Network of Telephone Chairs of several Spanish universities, among them the UPC, the UOC and the UPF.

It is an event focused on social innovation and the development of ideas and applications, the focus of which has been the resolution of social problems and the management of the massive use of data to meet existing needs. It consists in the exposition of a series of challenges and the intensive work in group, directed to the possible presentation of the different creations.

This year, the HackForGood has had three special awards (aside from the joint recognition to the project with the greatest social impact), one for each participating University in Catalonia. The criterion used by the UPF has been the educational applicability of the proposal, and the winners have received a grant worth 1,000 euros.
