Shaoqi Zhang is PhD. student in the Translation and Language Sciences Department of the UPF, where she forms a part of the Gr@el research group. Her research interests include foreign language learning, new literacy studies, informal learning in social media, etc. Her PhD. thesis works on Spanish speakers’ informal learning of Chinese language with online videos, in particular, she focuses on three cases who use a Chinese short video sharing platform called Douyin (global version: Tik Tok) and become micro celebrities in China.
