She graduated in Philology and Languages with a major in English from the National University of Colombia in 2006. In 2008 she obtained a scholarship from the Chinese Government to study Chinese language (Mandarin) and a master's degree in Applied Linguistics at the Central China Normal University, which she completed in 2013. By June 2016 she completed the Erasmus Mundus Master in Teaching and Learning of Spanish in Multilingual and International Contexts (MULTIELE) at the universities of Deusto (Bilbao, Spain), Groningen (The Netherlands), Barcelona and Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona) thanks to the academic excellence scholarship she was awarded by the Council of Europe. She has worked as a language teacher (English and Spanish) in different educational centers in Colombia, India and China.

In 2018, he obtained an FPI scholarship from the program "Aid for predoctoral contracts for the training of doctors" from the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, within the framework of the ECODAL research project, led by Dr. Carmen López Ferrero at Pompeu Fabra University. She is currently working on her doctoral research in teaching Spanish for intercultural citizenship in the city of Barcelona, paying special attention to the development of intercultural competence by the new citizens (immigrants and refugees), supervised by Dra. Carmen López Ferrero.
