Murillo Ávalos, Consuelo

Consuelo Murillo is Doctor in Law (Criminology). Her thesis dissertation “Ejecución e incumplimiento de las penas comunitarias: La revocación de la suspensión de la pena de prisión con reglas de conducta y el quebrantamiento de los trabajos en beneficio de la comunidad”, under the supervision of Elena Larrauri (Department of Law, Pompeu Fabra University), was awarded with the qualification of Summa Cum Laude.

Consuelo Murillo has a degree in Law (2011) from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaiso, Chile, where she served as student assistant and as research assistant to the Criminal Law department, and a Master’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice System by the UPF, UAB and UdG (2012).

Currently, Consuelo gives lessons on Criminology and Criminal Law at Universidad Austral de Chile and at Universidad de la Frontera, as well as she participates in different postgraduate programs.

Consuelo’s main research interests lie in community sanctions and measures, sentencing, and media and gender violence.
