Objectives

This bachelor's degree programme's objectives are to ensure that its graduates are well versed in audiovisual theory and practice; to nurture students' capacity for critical, analytical and reflective thinking in relation to all things audiovisual, involving technical and aesthetic knowledge of the forms and processes of and trends in audiovisual communication in our environment; and to provide a comprehensive knowledge of the techniques and processes involved in the different stages of audiovisual creation and dissemination, and of the interrelationships between the sector's creators, institutions, companies, formats and end users.

Graduates must be aware of the methods and concepts applied in the different branches of research, development and innovation related to audiovisual communication and future technological environments.

Syllabus

Internships

Term-long external internships in audiovisual communication sector companies are compulsory. Students choose their internships in the fourth year of the programme.

Periods abroad

Study periods abroad are optional. They may be carried out for a term or longer in the third or fourth year of the programme.

About the programme

UPF's bachelor's degree programme in Audiovisual Communication offers general, plural, interdisciplinary education on the different realities involved in the creation of content for cinema, television, radio and interactive media. Combining theory and practice, it is geared to students who wish to develop both their analytical skills and their creativity. Accordingly, it is taught not only by full-time lecturers and researchers specializing in theoretical aspects, but also by sector professionals and creators who pass on their practical knowledge through workshops and seminars. Students thus acquire a thorough knowledge of audiovisual communication in general and of the specific challenges that creative activity entails.

Students are required to take one of the above tracks, each of which has a value of at least 20 credits. Given that each student must obtain 40 credits corresponding to optional subjects, they may make up the difference by studying further subjects from the same track, subjects from other tracks or out-of-track subjects.
