Abstract

This book aims to approach a formal and structural perspective centred on the comic strip, on the resources at its disposal, the rhetorical systems developed by the comic strip and the mode of mimesis, i.e. the way in which the illusion of the reproduction of the events that make up the story is created. The comic strip can be seen in terms of three fundamental inscriptions: that which arises from its belonging to the sequential visual configuration; that which affects its plastic form and arises from its capacity to hybridise word and writing and, finally, that which concerns its dissemination, its place in mass consumption. Through the body of this brief compendium of formal aspects, we propose an approach centred on the technique that mediates between the vignette and the two displays that give rise to the sequential configuration: the page and the album.
