He holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and a master’s degree in Contemporary Film and Audiovisual Studies by the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He’s a Contributing Editor at Film Comment magazine (edited by the Film Society of the Lincoln Center, New York) and the director of the website Otros Cines Europa. He writes film criticism at the magazines Fotogramas and El Cultural, and at Ara newspaper. He’s the editor of the two-part anthology La mirada americana: 50 años de Film Comment (published by the festivals of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Mar del Plata) and has written chapters for monographies about Terence Davies, Claire Denis, Philippe Garrel and Rainer Werner Fassbinder, among others. He teaches at the bachelor’s degree and the Film Direction Master at ESCAC (Escuela Superior de Cine y Audiovisuales de Catalunya) and also at the Máster Universitario en Estudios de Cine y Culturas Visuales in ESCAC. He has given lectures at the Goethe University Frankfurt, at the Contemporary Culture Center of Barcelona and at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Vigo, among other institutions. He has been a visiting lecturer at the Master in Contemporary Film and Audiovisual Studies by the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He’s a member of ACCEC (Asociación de la Crítica y la Escritura Cinematográfica de Catalunya) and FIPRESCI (Fédération Internationale de la Presse CInématographique) and has been part of a jury at festivals in Mar del Plata (Argentina), Valdivia (Chile), Linz (Austria) and Sitges, among others. His main line of academic research deals with the emergence of anachronisms and allegories in the European contemporary cinema.
