Ramon Balcells has a degree in Advertising and Public Relations and a Master's degree in Contemporary Film and Audiovisual Studies, both by Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He combines academic research with audiovisual creation, which he develops through his production company, Cortado Films. In his applied doctoral research, he will work on the relationship between the Catalan avant-gardes and the concept of everyday, and will consist on the production of an audiovisual installation.
