Laia Puig Fontrodona (Blanes, 1996) graduated in Cinema and Audiovisual Media at the Catalonia’s Cinema Superior School (ESCAC), with a mention in direction of photography, and has a Master in Contemporary Film and Audiovisual Studies at the University Pompeu Fabra (UPF).

She is a director of photography and a photographer. She has worked in the camera department on the Catalan series Les de l’hoquei, has shot the making-of of the film Paradise Hills (Alice Waddington, 2019), and has been the camera operator for the documentary La Ciutat de tothom, produced by Zeba Produccions and broadcasted on the 33 Channel. She has overseen the direction of photography of short films and fashion films. She has been a photographer for Time Out Barcelona magazine and her photographs have been exhibited at places like Casa Elizalde and Esther Montoriol’s Gallery in Bacelona, the FineArt Festival in Igualada, the House of the Generalitat in Perpignan, the Cultural Center of Terrassa and Casa Saladrigas in Blanes. She has been awarded the photography prize “Ferran Freixa: the poetics of silence” by Fundació Palau. Furthermore, she was part of the Youth Jury at the Sitges Film Festival and the Donostia Zinemaldia.

Currently, she is a trainee predoctoral research staff in CINEMA’s research group in the Communication Department at the University Pompeu Fabra, where she is doing her doctoral thesis about the representation of motherhood through actresses on the Spanish screen.
