The Selection Committee for the 2023 Javier & Marta Villavecchia Fellowships resolves to grant the two fellowships for the 2022-2023 course to candidates

  • Vladislava Spasova Ilieva, anthropologist and doctor in Sciences of Religions
  • Manel Ribera, musician and composer

During the 2022-2023 winter semester, the anthropologist Vladislava Spasova will develop a research project that explores the image of Jesus Christ in Islamic-Christian Mysticism, and will benefit from the resources of the Haas Library to explore the themes of spiritual experience and artistic expression in Sufi poetry and Orthodox Christian images.

During the spring semester of the same year, the musician Manel Ribera will creatively and interpretively dive into the songs by Hildegard von Bingen. He has titled "Divine Paracusiae" the project of creation of a mixt piece for guitar and electroacoustics with neural networks. His goal, remarkably innovative and interdisciplinarian, deepens in the possibilities of musical language and cutting-edge technology to recreate the discourse and experience of the visionary Hildegard von Bingen.
