Interview to Alois M. Haas (03.19)

06.06.2019

On March, 2019 Professor Amador Vega, President of the Associació d'Amics de la Biblioteca Haas, visits Professor Alois M. Haas in Zürich and interviews him on behalf of his latest work on preparation, provisionally named Der Schatten Gottes (The Shadow of God, in German), which has in the current year inspired the title and subject matter of the VIII Alois M. Haas Lectures: Shadows and Mirrors .

The conversation is a vibrant reflection of Professor Haas' intellectual career, and also an extraordinary demonstration of his method and practice, inspiration of the work of the Research Group of the Biblioteca Haas and of the Associació d'Amics, who receive and take care of the vaste bibliographic legacy (the Haas Collection, with c. 40000 volumes) that Professor Haas gave more than 15 years ago.

The interrelation of the artistic disciplines and philosophy, the transversal perspective on historical periods and streams of thought, and the critical attention towards East and West intellectual traditions, antique and contemporary, sacred and secular, are some of the core characteristic elements of the work and character of Alois M. Haas. As Professor Vega mentions during the interview, in reference to the Humanistic Studies of the Research Group in the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, "we also try to follow the steps" of Professor Haas, and this audiovisual document wants to convey the gratitude for the invaluable legacy ceded by him, which boosts all our research, divulgative and teaching activity.

There is certainly similitude between the human being and God in the importance of the definition of unrecognizability.
The human being is precisely the unfixed being, in correspondence with the divine being.
