Alois M. Haas, doctor honoris causa by the UPF (01.12.09)
On December 1st, the Academic Investiture Cerimony of the emeritous professor of the University of Zurich, Alois M. Haas, as doctor honoris causa by the Pompeu Fabra University, is celebrated. Professor Haas is an internationally well-knwon scholar in the Studies of Theology, History of Religions, and Mysticism.
The investiture of Professor Haas as doctor honoris causa was proposed by the Universitary Institute of Culture, and was endorsed by the Department and Faculty of Humanities. The UPF Professor Victoria Cirlot acted as godmother. The UPF Professor Amador Vega pronounced the Laudatio of Professor Haas, and the UPF Rector imposed him the medal that invested him as doctor honoris causa by the UPF. Alois M. Haas pronounced the acceptation discourse. Eduardo Moga read the poem "La noche oscura" by Saint John of the Cross, and "The friend is mine" by Johann Sebastian Bach was performed.

Between December 1st and 10th, 2009, the Pompeu Fabra Unviersity organises the bibliographic exhibit Alois M. Haas, doctor honoris causa, which renews and updates the 2003 exhibit, and that pays homage to Professor Haas, emeritous Professor of the University of Zurich, who donated c. 40.000 volumes to the UPF in 2001.
