Associació d’Amics de la Biblioteca Haas

The Associació d'Amics de la Biblioteca Haas was born in 2003 with the aim of granting the necessary ressources to the catalogation of the bibliographic collection given by professor Haas to the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the organization of activities related to the specialized areas of the collection (history of religions, studies of medieval mysticism, Eastern and Western spirituality, aesthetics).

Relying on the intellectual and material support of its associates, the association takes care of the conservation and enrichement of the legacy of the Library. Long-standing activities like the Haas Lectures have been an initiative of the Association, and also the patronage of two annual fellowships, the Javier & Marta Villavecchia Fellowships, awarded to artists and researchers from around the world, so that artistic and academic research and creation about the topics of the collections are promoted.

The logo of the Bibliotheca Haas, as well as of the Associació d’Amics and of the Research Group, is an emblem from Daniel Dyke’s work (1617-1688), whose motto, nosce te ipsum (know yourself), wants to be the central reason of the studies that are carried out in our library in order to make them available to an open society.
