The UPF-Oesía Chair in Logistics and Data Analytics is linked to the Department of Economics and Business of Pompeu Fabra University and has as main objective the development of research projects, knowledge transfer and training, focused on those critical areas of the supply chain . These areas are likely to generate a competitive advantage in the companies of the sector, through the application of Data Science.
The benefits of applying Big Data and Business Analytics to the Logistics industry include improved process efficiency, efficient asset control, demand segmentation, more agile distribution, performance tracking of products and machines, the advance fixing of prices or the optimization of distribution routes, among others.
In the specific area of research, it is planned to define and develop various programs, to develop doctoral theses, to obtain new projects and to carry out activities.
On the other hand, the Chair promotes the transfer of knowledge between the areas of research and industrial exploitation, and the industrialization of research results in commercial lines.
Conferences are also organized and academic papers are published.
Finally, in the field of training, pre and post-doctoral fellowships are offered, as well as internships in companies, teaching subjects in training plans and prizes for end-of-course projects.
