CONFERENCE ON KERT CAMPAIGN AND THE BEGINNING OF THE PROTECTORATE IN MOROCCO

The Quert campaign between 1911 and 1912 is undoubtedly little known, both by academic historiography and by the general public. Nevertheless, the conflicts in Morocco at the beginning of the 20th century had a national and international dimension, since the colonial interests not only influenced the Spanish political dynamics, but also the alliances of the First World War. This campaign is part of the process of transformation of the Sharif dynasty into a French and Spanish protectorate, which led to the establishment of the “zone of northern influence”, the Rif, under Spanish control, a fundamental aspect for the evolution of Spanish history.
