2ªnd edition of the Ideograma - UPF Chair Award

The call for the 2nd edition of the Ideograma - UPF Chair Award for the best Master's Thesis (TFM) in political and institutional communication is open.

The Ideograma - UPF Chair in Political Communication and Democracy, with the aim of deepening and promoting research carried out by master's students in Communication, as well as giving them visibility, created the Ideograma - UPF Chair Award. This Award, which was inaugurated last year, is announced annually and is open to all those students who have defended their master's thesis in the last academic year.

The call for the 2nd edition of the Ideogram-UPF Chair Award is open

The Ideograma - UPF Chair Award aims to recognize and reward those researches in the field of political and institutional communication carried out by master's degree students, on the occasion of their Master's Thesis (TFM). Applications submitted as candidates must have been presented and defended in court during the academic year preceding the year of the call (academic year 2020-21).

The deadline to submit the application is from March 1 to April 24 at 00.00 in Spain.

The Master's Thesis that have received a minimum grade of 9, on a scale of 10, from the institution where the defense was held may be submitted for the award. The author of the winning work will receive an amount of € 1,725 gross, divided into two payments, as well as advice for 3 months from the Chair to develop and expand the line of research, in order to integrate the research in the framework of the rest of the studies of the Chair.

The award is compatible with any other award and scholarship.

The documentation required to participate in this process is as follows:

  1. Comprehensive report of the TFM. (Complete TFM, without references of authorship or the institution where it has been presented).
  2. Official certificate reflecting the grade assigned to the Master's Thesis.
  3. Autorship Form.

Requirements for participation to be eligible for the award:

• Students who have presented the Master's Thesis (TFM) in the 2020-2021 academic year.

• Students who have obtained a grade equal to or higher than 9 on a 10-point basis in their master's thesis.

• Students who have completed their master's thesis in the field of political and institutional communication.

• The Master's Thesis must be written in one of the following lanaguages: Catalan, Spanish or English.

About the first edition of Ideograma - UPF Chair Award

Sandra Pallarés, winner of the first edition.

One year ago, the first edition of the Ideograma UPF Chair Award was inaugurated. A total of 27 nominations were received from multiple countries, of which Sandra Pallarés was the winner, with the Master's Thesis: “The populist discourse on Twitter. Analysis of the case of Santiago Abascal in the 10N election campaign". The work was expanded through a collaboration with the Chair team, resulting in research: The Communication of the Populist Radical Right on Social Media. Analysis of the cases of Santiago Abascal on Twitter, Matteo Salvini on Instagram and Keiko Fujimori on TikTok, whose complete work will be published by the publishing house EPI.
