Over the course of her career, she has taught on the Faculty of Humanities’ undergraduate programmes in Humanities and in Global Studies, as well as the master’s programmes in Social Communication and in ESL Teacher Training for Secondary Schools, mainly in the fields of English, sociocultural and applied linguistics, and discourse analysis.

She has held several academic and management positions, both in the Faculty of Humanities (vice-dean, dean, coordinator of the master’s programme in ESL Teacher Training for Secondary Schools, and teaching staff coordinator) and elsewhere in the university (special academic activities programme coordinator and vice-rector for Teaching and Academic Planning).

Her current research interests include qualitative and mixed-method studies on ideologies and language practices in multicultural and multilingual contexts; language teaching, acquisition and learning in multilingual and internationalized contexts; and transcultural competence in international and study abroad educational contexts, which is the subject of her current research project TRANSLINGUAM-UNI. She has also studied the processes of reading academic and literary texts in a foreign language, as well as the use of technology in language learning and teaching contexts.

You were recently appointed a professor in the Department of Humanities. What do you think of this milestone?

It is in recognition of all the work I have done in the areas of both research and teaching and university management over the course of nearly three decades, especially at Pompeu Fabra University. I would not call it the culmination of my career, because academic careers do not end with this appointment. I continue to work teaching classes at the Faculty of Humanities, leading a research project, supervising doctoral theses and collaborating with the heads of my faculty on committees and various management issues whenever they ask. In short, I am very grateful to UPF for this opportunity for recognition, which, in the last decade, has become especially difficult to achieve, despite the real merits and efforts of much of the teaching staff.
