Last July, the Roger de Llúria courtyard on the Ciutadella campus was the setting of the graduation ceremony for the UPF class of 2022. Over the course of two days, 8 and 9 July, nearly 1,800 bachelor’s degree students celebrated their graduation in the company of family and friends.

This year’s graduation ceremony for students on the bachelor’s programme in Business Sciences-Management featured an additional significant milestone: Laia de Martí Müller, daughter of two alumni of UPF’s first-ever graduating class, was amongst those graduating, closing a family circle closely bound up with the university. Her parents, Xavier de Martí Vallès and Thais Müller Hernández de Lorenzo, enrolled at the university in 1990 on the undergraduate programmes in Economic and Business Sciences and Law, respectively.

We sought them out to talk with them and ask them to tell us, each from their own point of view and specific moment in life, what university, and UPF in particular, has meant to them, how they see the changes taking place, what the main challenges were then and now... A family conversation to reflect how the university has changed in the last thirty years.
