Statistics, Probability, and Machine Learning Research Group

We study statistics, probability, and machine learning from a theoretical and methodological perspective. Our work ranges from modelling high-dimensional and dependent data to understanding mathematical principles behind machine-learning methods.

Our group is affiliated to the BSE Data Science Center.
We coordinate and teach in the Data Science Methodology Masters Program.

Research Lines

  • Statistical learning theory and machine learning, including the foundations of deep learning.

  • Graphical models and networks, focusing on structural inference, and network archaeology.

  • High-dimensional and robust statistics, Bayesian methods, and inference under heavy contamination.

  • Stochastic analysis and random processes, with applications to dependence structures, and diffusion models.

Job openings

There are currently no job openings in the group.

Many postdoctoral researchers come to Barcelona with their own funding. This includes competetive grants like Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship (EU), Juan de la Cierva (Spain),  Beatriu de Pinós (Catalunia), INPhINIT (La Caixa), and EUTOPIA-SIF.
