Recognizing the most characteristic and prominent sounds of your environment is not that easy!

We want to help you with some exercices. Soundscape is everything you can hear in a specific place. This concept was created by Murray Schafer in 1969.

Take paper and pencil:

  1. Close your eyes during three minutes and write down all the sounds you hear.
  2. Now place an X beside each sound you produced yourself. Were most of the sounds on your list produced by you or by others?
  3. Some sounds continued unceasingly throuhgout your listening period; others may have been repetitive, occurring more than once, and some were heard once only. Assign letters C for continuous, R for repetitive and U for Unique before each sound on your list.

Now you are ready to record!
