Michael Mora-Rodriguez is a PhD candidate, research staff in training (PIF) from the Deparment of Communication at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). Graduated in Journalism from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), Master's Degree in Social Communication Research (MUCS) from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). During the course 2021-2022, he spent six months as a visiting scholar at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). In this academic year (2022-2023), he stays at Kobe University (Japan). 

His line of research is social interaction and interpersonal communication, working on the discipline of conversation analysis on police checks in La Jonquera-Le Perthus border area. He is also a member of POLCOM-GRP research group.

Research projects: 

- "Hate on social networks: the agora of misogyny. Analysis of anti-feminist discourses and media and institutional coverage of these issues on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram", (2022-2023), funded by the International Catalan Institute for Peace (ICIP). 

MODACOM (2019-2022), "Mobile intimacy: studying the influence of dating apps on social and intimate-sexual relationships in Spain", funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities of the Government of Spain. 

COMCRISIS (2020-2024), "Communication of crisis and emergencies in Social Media. Study of its use in Spain and design of information protocols for institutions and the media" financed by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities of the Government of Spain.

- "Hate speech on social networks: Muslims and attacks in 17A", (2019-2020) funded by the International Catalan Institute for Peace (ICIP).

Teaching experience: 

- Lecturer in Mass Media and Geopolitics. Degree in Global Studies. 

- Lecturer in the Integrated Journalism Workshop and Diari de Barcelona. Degree in Journalism.
