PhD position in Development of advanced models of fluid simulations

  • Application deadline: 20/07/2024
  • Status: CLOSED

08/07/2024

The position is focused on advancing our current methodological pipeline to run patient-specific fluid simulations in the left atrial to predict the risk of thrombus formation, before and after the implantation of occluder devices in atrial fibrillation patients. New methodological improvements will be developed to have more realistic simulations, comparing them with patient-specific in-vitro and in-vivo data. Additionally, work will be performed to further automatise the different steps of the pipeline, so that simulations can be run automatically after having the patient-specific images. This will allow performing large-scale simulation campaigns, compatible with clinical trials.

This work will be part of a PhD thesis being funded by the EU H2020 GEMINI project, so international collaborations with research and clinical partners will be conducted during the whole period of the work.
