Using Stata on MARVIN: An introduction to UPF's high performance computational cluster
Date: 14/11/18
Time: 15:00-16:00 h
Time: 15:00-16:00 h
Place: Room 24.021
Presenter: John Palmer, Tenure-track professor in the Department of Political and Social Sciences at Pompeu Fabra University.
John Palmer will be offering a training session for doctoral students and any interested faculty on how to use Stata with UPF's new MyApps system and the MARVIN cluster. The bulk of the session will focus on MARVIN, which is a shared high performance computational environment, part of UPF's Scientific IT Core Facility (https://www.upf.edu/web/sct- sit/). We will cover connecting to MARVIN, running Stata in interactive console mode and through an interactive GUI, as well as running batch jobs and managing resources. Although the session will focus on Stata, the techniques we will cover are applicable to other software available on the cluster, including R and Python.
