Amanda Barreto is a student in PhD History program at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), where she develops her investigation into the pottery of the Pankararu indigenous people, located in Northeast Brazil, and its relationship with colonialism and gender issues. She has a master's degree in Archaeology (2022) from the Federal University of Sergipe (Brazil), where she dedicated her research to the ceramic production of the Kariri-Xokó and Pankararu peoples during the 20th century, in order to contribute to indigenous histories in Northeast Brazil. On her bachelor's degree, also in Archaeology, she developed research focused on gender and ceramics themes applied to the pre-colonial period in Brazil. Her areas of interest include indigenous themes in Northeast Brazil, ceramic analysis, gender, preventive conservation and ethnographic collections.
