International Student Admission - Barcelona International Summer School (UPF)

Admission requirements

Applicants must be enrolled in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of their undergraduate studies.
A minimum GPA of 3.0 (equivalent to 7 out of 10 or a B+) is required.
A good command of the language of instruction of the course is expected. While a formal language certificate is not mandatory, applicants should demonstrate at least B2-level proficiency. Insufficient language skills may affect grades or result in course failure.

Exceptional cases:

Students in their 1st year of undergraduate studies may be admitted if they have an excellent academic record (GPA ≥ 3.5 / 8 out of 10 / A), possess a strong command of the language of instruction and submit a motivation letter and a recommendation letter from a faculty member or tutor.
Non-degree holders, professionals, or experts may be admitted to specific courses if they can demonstrate relevant experience and interest.

All exceptional cases will be evaluated by the Academic Director to ensure eligibility and suitability for the program.

Application Process

Stage 1: Application

The first step to applying is to register your interest. There will be three rounds open to accept applications:

1.   March Round will be open from March 2nd - March 15th, 2026.
2.   April Round will be open from April 1st - April 14th, 2026.
3.   May Round will be open from May 4th - May 17th, 2026.

Please note that in order to successfully apply, you must complete STEPS 1 and 2. Course spots are limited and filled up on a first-come, first-served basis. The slots for the most sought-after programs are likely to be allocated in the early rounds.

1.1 Application: STEP 1

During this time please register in the UPF system by introducing your personal data. This takes around 2-3 minutes.

1.2 Application: STEP 2

Login into Virtual Secretary and click on "Mobility". Select "Barcelona International Summer School", and fill in the online form with your personal and academic details. Upload the required documents (PDF, 9MB maximum). If you don’t upload them, you won’t be able to finish the process:
•   A photocopy of your identity card or passport.
•   A passport-size picture (max 75kb). It must be passport-style (without sunglasses or hat, with a plain background).
•   A photocopy of your transcript of records.
•   Health insurance.

Successful applicants will receive confirmation they have been allocated a place on their round within 5 working days. Details of how to complete the registration will be included.

Stage 2: Complete your registration and payment (for confirmed applicants only)

Please note: You will not be able to register online for your courses until you have received an email from the BISS Admissions team inviting you to do so.

Login into Virtual Secretary, select “Enrolment” and choose your courses.

The system does not show timetable clashes, so please first make sure that there are no conflicting courses in your selection.
When a course is full, the system will let you know.

In order to complete the enrolment process, you must select one of the fee payment options. Please refer to the Tuition Fee Page for further guidance on tuition fee payment options.

Stage 3: Activate your IT account

For this process to work you must be registered in the system and have a password reset email address pre-assigned (the one you provided during Step 1).

You will need your Campus Global username/code and password to enter Aula Global (to see course materials, submit assignments and check your grades), Access UPF email, Set up Wi-Fi (Eduroam), etc.

In order to get your username/code and password, enter Campus Global and follow these steps:

Click on You don’t know or can’t remember your code? You will need to enter your year of birth (i.e. 2003) and last name(s)
go back to Campus Global and click on Did you forget your password? You will get a link to your personal email to reset your UPF Campus Global password.
Enable the two-factor authentication (2FA) by associating a mobile device to your account.
