This sculpture consists of 36 cubes placed in the form of a staircase and divided into eight levels, which refer to Ramon Llull's philosophical concept of "the scale of understanding", which unites art, philosophy and mathematics. The artist reinterpreted the Lullian symbols with a minimalist aesthetic based on balance and symmetry.

Alfonso Alzamora (Barcelona, 1951), painter and sculptor from Empordà, great-grandson of the composer Isaac Albéniz. This work was created in the prestigious Pere Casanovas workshop, donated by the Vila Casas Foundation and installed on the Ciutadella campus of the UPF in 2016, on the occasion of the Llull Year.
Alzamora is also the author of the sculpture "Homenatge a Isaac Albéniz i Alicia de Larrocha", installed in L'Auditori de Barcelona.
