Hibai Lopez-Gonzalez is a Post-Doc Research Fellow (2016-2019) at the International Gaming Research Unit, located within the Psychology Division of Nottingham Trent University (UK). In 2015 he obtained his PhD in the field of communication at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona with a thesis dissertation about the fan consumption of mediasport. He has published his research on sport in dedicated journals such as the International Review for the Sociology of Sport or the Journal of the Philosophy of Sport.

He is currently involved in research on the mechanisms of mediasport communication to influence sports fans to bet online, with particular interest in understanding how the consumption of mediated sport content –sport watching, celebrity endorsement, sponsorships, sports-embedded betting promotions– might induce in some vulnerable groups such as adolescents a gambling addiction.
