Maria Carolina is a PhD canidate at the UPF Communication department. She has a master's degree in Political Science from the University of Brasília and a Master's degree in Democracy and Good Government from the University of Salamanca. She investigates issues related to political communication, the media, the use of social networks and elections. Her thesis is entitled: communication via social networks of federal deputies: a model of digital accountability.

In the last 12 years, she has worked in the area of political communication and electoral campaigns. Currently, she is the communication coordinator of a political party with the Federal Chamber of Deputies of Brazil. She has worked in the Federal Senate and also in the Brazilian Sports and Health ministries.
