Dr Huélamo´s background is in Hispanic philology (BA Hons), philosophy (BA Hons) and Hispanic philology (Ph.D.) at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid. Her doctoral thesis is entitled: "El Libro del governador o Summa de collaciones o de ayuntamientos: versión castellana del Communiloquium de Juan de Gales”.

At present she is a teacher at a secondary school in Madrid and she also teaches "Spanish Contemporary Literature", "Cervantes and his time", and "Valle Inclán theatre" in the Department of Philology at the Universidad Complutense. Dr Huélamo is a researcher in the project Power, spirituality and gender: the emergence of female authority at court and convent (Castilla, 1400-1500) at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona) and her research focus is on religious female writers of the convent of Santo Domingo el Real de Madrid (Sor Constanza’s devotional book and the collection of prayers entitled Silva de devoción by an anonymous nun).  She is also interested in the influence of two preaching handbooks (Communiloquium and Breviloquium) by John of Wales from the 13th century in Spain.
