Rare Disease Day sets the starting point for the RecerCaixa project TOGETHER
On 29 February 2016, the international community celebrated Rare Disease Day. In the EU it is estimated that there are between 30 and 35 million affected citizens. Only in Spain there are more than 3 million affected and in Catalonia numbers say more than 400,000. This scenario was the origin of the Rare Disease Day.
The RecerCaixa project TOGETHER. Overcoming socio-educational barriers and promoting Health Literacy: intervention on the interferences and difficulties in understanding information and documentation addressed to families of children affected by rare diseases, which officially began on February 29, same day as Rare Disease Day, expects to bring information closer to families of children affected by a rare disease.
