He is a lecturer in the Department of International Public Law and International Relations, Pompeu Fabra University, and Academic Coordinator of the Erasmus Mundus Master's Degree in Public Policy and International Development at the Barcelona Institute of International Studies (IBEI). In 2001 he received his BA in Social Sciences from the UPF, and after that he took postgraduate courses at the London School of Economics and Political Science and Georgetown University. In 2010 he obtained his PhD with the thesis "Actors i ordre a les Relacions Internacionals: el paper de la República Popular de Xina i Japó en la construcción de l'ordre regional de l'Àsia oriental". Before starting work at UPF and IBEI he went on several research stays and worked at the University of the Western Cape (South Africa), at the Asian division of the NGO Human Rights Watch, at the Washington correspondent's office of the newspaper  El País, and at the electoral office of Cambodia. His main research interests are Asian international relations, international relations theory and the analysis of Chinese foreign affairs, topics he also teaches. His most recent publications include  Seguretat i conflictivitat a l'Àsia oriental: la Xina, l'ordre regional i els conflictes marítims (2009, together with Caterina García and Josep Ibáñez) and  El orden regional de Asia oriental en materia de seguridad (2008). Since 2007 he has been an active member of the Board of Directors of the United Nations Association in Spain (ANUE).
