GameSquare, the application specialized in buying and selling video games

The application was created with the aim of helping users to sell their video games and get new titles without wasting time.

The new reality imposed by COVID-19 has led to an increase in the consumption of video games, as well as the emergence of new business initiatives that have emerged during confinement.

This is the case of GameSquare, a Marketplace specialized in video games that allows users to buy and sell physical video games instantly, securely and without chats. To achieve this, the application lets its users know who wants to buy the games they have at home already, as well as discover the value of their entire collection.

The creators of the application, four young former students of the Pompeu Fabra and Polytechnic University of Catalonia, comment on the idea behind the application: "we wanted to help people not to waste their time", "when we designed the application, we did it with this philosophy in mind".

For this reason, GameSquare does not have any chat, but the application bets on a groundbreaking system that puts all the sellers of a product at the reach of a click. This operation allows you to send a purchase offer to all sellers at the same time and alerts users when the video game they want to buy is available for their price.

Finally, all GameSquare transactions are shipped securely and with a 48-hour guarantee to receive the product. The platform acts as an intermediary to provide maximum security to its users.

The application has a 4.7 in the Playstore and you can buy and sell physical games and game consoles from Playstation 5 or Nintendo Switch, to Nintendo NES or Sega Mega Drive. The founding team is working to release the iOS version as well.

GameSquare won second place in the Hacklab UPF Awards, was selected as one of the 6 Spanish finalists in the EO GLOBAL STUDENT ENTREPENEUS Awards Spain 2018, and are currently in the final incubation program of Magis Teams, which selected them from more than 70 European projects. Recently, they also participated in the first edition of the UPF Start up Showcase.

Currently, the team is formed by Gerard Jané (CEO and UPF alumni of Political Science), Martín Simón (CFO and UPF alumni of International Business Economics), Xavi Llordella and Pol Rodoreda, both alumni of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
