Dägetschwil (Sankt Gallen, Switzerland), 2001

Following a first meeting in 1998 between Professor Alois M. Haas and UPF professors Victoria Cirlot and Amador Vega, a friendship began in the spiritual and intellectual order with the Swiss professor, which lasts until today. In 2001, Haas donated the almost 40,000 volumes that make up the UPF Haas Library, which were part of his personal library in the town of Dägetschwil. Thanks to the impetus given by the cultural passion of Marta and Javier Villavecchia, in 2003 the Association of Friends of the Haas Library was created, which still enjoys their patronage to preserve and catalog the splendid work of the Library.

Uitikon (Zuric, Switzerland), 2019

From July 2019, the Haas Library of the Ciutadella Campus at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra has been enriched by the latest Professor Alois M. Haas' donation, consisting in around 5.000 volumes from his personal library in Uitikon. The renewed generosity of Professor Haas, and the support of the management of the UPF Library and the Association of Friends of the Haas Library, have made possible this expansion of such a unique collection, open to the entire scientific community. and deposited at UPF, that is, in a public library. The new volumes complete the collection in the fields of medieval philosophy and theology (Latin, Arabic and Jewish), modern and contemporary thought, and especially in terms of aesthetics and philosophy of art.
