In the month of March, the Royal Decree-Law 2/2023 on the modernization of the public pension system was passed. This includes, in Article 1, Section 34, the obligation, starting from January 1, 2024, to include students undertaking unpaid external academic internships in the social security contribution system.

UPF will take care of both the management and the financial cost of including students in the Social Security system for all internships that do not receive any study assistance. Therefore, starting from January 1, 2024, and in accordance with the regulations, students undertaking UNPAID internships will also be included in the Social Security System.
