The Research Group on Genomics of Individuality is led by Dr. Francesc Calafell. The group focuses on genomics of individuality: what is there in our genomes that makes us the way we are? What does it tell about our ancestry? How does it affect our susceptibility to diseases? How can this be applied in practical settings, i.e.., in forensic genetics?
The main research lines are:
- Phylogenomics of the Y chromosome and mitochondrial DNA
- Genomic structural diversity and human demography
