The Operations, Analytics and Technology research group has as a central objective the development and analysis of new mathematical optimization models and intelligent algorithms to solve large-scale and complex optimization problems in different industries. The main methodologies used by researchers in this group is based on Operations Research, Management Science and Business Analytics, which includes Mathematical Programming (linear/integer/stochastic), Exact Algorithms, Queueing Networks Theory, Heuristics and Metaheuristics,  Intelligent Algorithms, Machine Learning and Simulation, among others.

The research group intends to develop mathematical models and intelligent algorithms, both probabilistic and deterministic, that make a significant contribution to the state-of-the-art in the area and lead to significant advances in information technology systems. The main problems studied include Scheduling, Routing, Assignment, Location, with many applications in areas like Logistics, Production, Operations Management, Health Care, Vertical Farming, Distribution, Transportation and Last mile Transportation, Social and NGO organizations, etc.

A final objective of the group is to achieve Technology transfer to private and public organisations, and to improve the management of productive and logistic systems, in small-, medium-, and large-sized companies. The researchers in the group have worked and provided solutions to important organizations and businesses.
