Habitar is a multimedia journalistic series focused on alternative housing models beyond traditional renting or buying in Catalonia, offering a window into possible solutions amidst the housing crisis, rising cost of living, and an increasingly precarious job market.

The series aims to explore housing issues through a critical, approachable perspective. Each episode focuses on the experiences and viewpoints of residents in Catalonia, seeking to build a broader collective imagination around possible housing solutions.

Habitar una cooperativa d’habitatge is the pilot journalistic report in the series that delves into the model of housing cooperatives involving the transfer of use as an emerging and booming residential option. The report examines the accessibility, sustainability and functioning of housing cooperatives in Catalonia through a detailed analysis. The differential value of this report rests in the focus on life experiences as the backbone of the report. Habitar una cooperativa d’habitatge not only focuses on the economic or logistical aspect of the model, but also addresses social, anthropological, cultural and emotional issues associated with this form of community life. With the aim of promoting debate and reflection, the series of reports is presented as a multimedia platform that aspires to provide information about the housing options available in contemporary society and explain the distinctive features of each one in detail. Aimed at all types of readers, this project aims to transform a dense topic into a dynamic, enjoyable and accessible experience for everyone.
