Synopsis

Luna (23) runs away from home at midnight as she feels smothered by her parents, who want her to follow in their footsteps. An unexpected meeting with a group of drag queens will help her to redefine her concept of family.

Project description

Nocturnas was originally designed as a short fiction film that portrays Barcelona at night, within the LGTBIQ+, underground and trash collective. We want to focus on this invisible part of our city because we are committed to it and we want to keep it from dying out.

The aim of the project is to give voice to these nocturnal creatures and dissident people who have inspired us so much. In the short film, these nocturnal beings will come out of the shadows that have been imposed on them to show their faces and become the main stars.

Through this collective and its vision of community, it wants to talk about something with which we can all empathize: the family. Nocturnas aims to portray other family structures that are not so widely socially accepted.

ARSENAL ENTER intervention

Nocturnas is a project with social and political ambition that arrived at ENTER with a relatively finished editing process, but with the need to address the post-production in terms of colour and sound. The project faced the difficulty of doing so without the support of a production company. In this sense, the project’s experience highlights the difficulties that works created at the university encounter in finding support from companies to help complete the project and finding distribution. ENTER has participated by providing resources to finish the work’s visuals and sound editing.
