The activities of Pompeu Fabra University in the areas of solidarity, development cooperation and volunteering are promoted and managed by and come under the umbrella of UPF Solidària. This designation dates back to 2005 and coincided with the emergence of the UPF Solidària Platform created by students, faculty and members of the PAS of the University who agreed to promote solidarity activities at UPF, in a participatory, cross-cutting and committed way.

The activities promoted by UPF Solidària include the following:

• Annual call for financial aid to social commitment and sustainable development projects
• UPF Solidària Fair
• Promoting volunteering.
• Other activities:
  • Awareness-raising activities
  • Contact with entities
  • Participation in university solidarity networks
  • Information and advice to the academic community on cooperation issues

This programme aims to link the development cooperation actions carried out by the University to its own areas of competence: teaching and research, related to both the comprehensive training of students and a better understanding of the problems that may prevent human and sustainable development on a global scale. In addition, the institutional strengthening of university systems (through knowledge and technology transfer, infrastructure and other resources) and technical advice and support for development programmes, together with raising the awareness of the university community, must be priority elements of the work by UPF's in this area.

We are currently collaborating in the development of the new Master Plan for Development Cooperation 2023-2026.
