S4I final conferences: Day 1 - community education in the Raval district

On June 29th the final conference of the Schools4Inclusion project took place at Escola Massana. The conference, labelled Raval Barri Educador, was co-organised with the partners involved in the local action plans carried out in the project, led by the Tot Raval Foundation.

On June 29th the final conference of the Schools4Inclusion project took place at Escola Massana. The conference, labelled Raval Barri Educador, was co-organised with the partners involved in the local action plans carried out in the project, led by the Tot Raval Foundation.

 

The conference had the participation of representatives from all primary and secondary schools in the district (Castella, Collaso i Gil, Elisabets, Escola Pía, Escola Milà i Fontanals, Rubén Darío, Institut Milà i Fontanals, Institut Miquel Tarradell), as well as schools from the neighbouring districts (Barceloneta - La Salle, Gothic - Escola Drassanes, Eixample - Escola Aldana, Poble Sec - Escola Mossèn Jacint Verdaguer). This audience was complemented by other stakeholders in the district and outside, ranging from parent-teacher associations,  kindergarten in the district (EBM Aurora and Mont Tàber), Universities (Universitat de Barcelona), and a large number of entities that provide educational support, ranging from special education (Cintra), museums (MACBA, CCCB, Arts Santa Mònica), social (Casal dels Infants) and cultural entities (Òmnium Ciutat Vella, Xamfrà), libraries and local and regional educational policy makers and administrators.

 

During the program, the S4I platform was shared and a number of initiatives involving the relation of schools with external stakeholders to support inclusive education were presented and discussed. It included school experiences in Erasmus programs, cooperations between schools and artistic centres, the experiences of the embedding of social educators in schools as links between educational and social services to support vulnerable families and newcomers and the summer community program to provide educational opportunities during the school break (Raval Estiu Educatiu). The conference ended with the compilation of ongoing strengths and needs identified by the different professionals to further prepare action plans in inclusive education for the acad

 

The conference included a coffee-break provided by the students following the Training and Insertion Program at Impulsem SCCL.
