Head of the Technical Cabinet of the Generalitat de Catalunya, deputy director of the Ministry of Health, and freelance professional consultant for international organisations in different countries until his incorporation as a professor at the UPF at its inaugural moment in 1990.
Former President of the Spanish Society of Public Health and Health Administration (SESPAS), former President of the Health Economics Association (AES), former Secretary of the European Association of Public Health, meritorious member of CAMFiC, Josep Trueta Medal for Health Merit, member of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Catalonia and Honorary Member of the Health Economics Association.
