His main research interests include health economics, public economics, health management and economic evaluation.

Degree in Economics with honors (1983) for the Universitat Autònoma and a PhD in Economics (1991) for the same university. He was the director of the Center for Research in Health and Economics from  2010 to 2011 and co-director from 2006 to 2010. He was the president of the Catalan Agency for Health Information, Assesment and Quality (AIAQS) between 2010 and 2011. He was the president of the Catalan Agency for Health Information, Assesment and Quality (AIAQS) between 2010 and 2011. Since 2013 he is  the director of the Master Universitario en Economía de la Salud y del Medicamento (MUESOL) (Barcelona School of Management, BSM-UPF) and the International Master on Health Economics and Pharmacoeconomics (MUESIOL) (BSM-UPF).
