Amanda Fincatti
Fincatti, Amanda
Amanda is a PhD candidate in the Department of Communication at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), where she is a member of the CritiCC research group. Her work is situated at the intersection of critical animal and media studies, with a focus on the representation of so-called “invasive species” and the ethics of multispecies coexistence. She holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Pisa (Italy) and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the Casper Libero Institute (Brazil). Her research explores how media and institutional discourses shape public perceptions of nonhuman animals, particularly in relation to environmental governance and the politics of species classification. Through an interdisciplinary approach, she examines the narratives that influence policy, public sentiment, and ethical frameworks surrounding animal life in Europe.
