Imatge inicial

Gerard Erruz is one of the composers selected in the Phonos Summer-Fall 2022 call for residencies, to work on his project La coreografia del so. His proposal focuses on the creation of an immersive electroacoustic musical work that works on the movement of sound based on ideas from dance choreography. Erruz wonders what ideas and conventions of dance could be used to give meaning to the musical discourse of an immersive work, or what types of sound movement can be used musically in current immersive audio systems. These questions will guide his research as well as the creation of his piece, which will be performed on the multi-channel audio system of the Sala Aranyó during the Phonos Residencies Festival, at the end of November 2022.

This project has received support from the OSIC grant for research and innovation in the fields of visual arts, architecture and design, performing arts, music and thought.

Gerard Erruz (Barcelona, 1993) is a composer and researcher. He studied composition at the Conservatori Superior del Liceu with professors Ramon Humet and Benet Casablancas. His output ranges from works for solo instrument to works for orchestra. He has also presented pieces with real-time electronics and audiovisual performances. As a researcher he has focused on immersive audio systems. He graduated in Physics from the University of Barcelona and completed a Master's degree in Sound and Music Technologies at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. His research Sound-Space Choreography (Erruz and Schmele), on software instruments for immersive music production, was presented at the Audio Engineering Society.
