Andrés Lewin-Richterexecutive director

Andrés Lewin-Richter Ossiander (born Miranda de Ebro, 1937) is a composer and industrial engineer. He obtained a Fulbright scholarship that allowed him to complete his studies at Columbia University, in New York City, where he studied and worked between 1962 and 1965, being an assistant to Vladimir Ussachevsky, Mario Davidovsky and Edgar Varèse at the Columbia Princeton Electronic Music Center, where he created his first electronic compositions. In 1968, he founded the Barcelona Electronic Music Studio and was executive director of the Conjunt Català de Música Contemporània between 1968 and 1973. In 1974, he founded the Phonos Foundation together with Josep Maria Mestres Quadreny. He is a composer specialised to a greater extent in electroacoustic music, having composed instrumental works with tape and music for ballet, theater, film and video.

Frederic Font, technical and research director

Doctor in Information and Communications Technologies at the Music Technology Group of the UPF where he has been a senior researcher. He leads the Freesound project and the research around this platform. He also works on other creative projects related to music technology, software development, audio processing and synthesizers. His tasks at Phonos include technical supervision, and coordination of research and training activities.

Sonia Espí, coordination

Sonia Espí is responsible for management of research projects in music technology, promotion, and outreach at the Music Technology Group of the Pompeu Fabra University. She is also responsible for the coordination and communication at the Phonos Foundation. She has a degree in social psychology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and a postgraduate degree in Production and Cultural Communication from Blanquerna (Universitat Ramon Llull).

Pablo Fredes, technical production

Pablo Fredes is a Chilean composer. He has studied music at the Catholic University of Valparaíso. He studied composition with the Chilean composer Sergio Ortega and also studied ENMP electroacoustic music, Paris, France. In addition, he attended the composition workshop of José Manuel López López in Paris 8, at the University of Saint Dennis, 2002-2003. In 2006 he began his residence in Barcelona, studying composition in the Master of "Musical Composition and Contemporary Technologies" at the Pompeu Fabra University, directed by Gabriel Brncic. He has taught at the DCMT Master and Postgraduate Program at Pompeu Fabra University, as well as at the Master of Sound Art at the University of Barcelona and at the Hangar Foundation. He currently runs El Sindicato de Altavoces, a acousmatic music concert series at Phonos.
