Festival Residències

Festival Residències

del 30 de novembre al 2 de desembre

We open our doors to showcase the projects that have been in residence at Phonos during this year 2022. And we do it in the form of a Festival, with three days of activities, in which we hope to celebrate one of the main missions of Phonos, which is to support projects at the intersections and margins of sound and technology.

Descriptions

El Sindicato de Altavoces: Works by Fredes, Nuix, Govaere & Sims

The possibility of sounding in space from so many sides and creating so many spaces has made El Sindicato de Altavoces reverberate with all its contamination. The pieces by Fredes, Nuix, Govaere and Sims that we present in this edition are pieces that belong to the Phonos archives, and we want them to resound once again. (+info)

Marta Azparren & Haize Lizarazu: Cine Ciego

Based on a non-hierarchical exchange between the sound and the visual, Azparren and Lizarazu propose attempts to approach the process of interruption of image and sound, searching for the sound of the last image, and the image that will accompany the last sound. Cine Ciego is an anti-sublime, anti-spectacular immersive experience, in which the audience receives what they see with their eyes closed, and their ears open; they listen to the traces left by the image and sound when they leave (+info).

Julio César Palacio: Bio Data-X

This project was born from the artist's need to recycle and cut down on the amount of technological devices used in musical composition as a response to the growing technopathy and hyperdependence on gadgets in the production of sound content. Bio Data-X focuses on the study of acoustic phenomena, extending the range of human auditory perception, sound spatialisation, infrasound, soundscape analysis, bioacoustics and the collection of DATA related to acoustic ecology. On this occasion, Bio DATA-X presents Weather Report #1" in which it uses content recorded mostly in the Collserola Natural Park (+info).

Gabriel Saber y La Incendiaria: Mashup

Performance that explores the look at the body through the prism of social networks, our consumer relationships, the desire to see what is private and the monetisation of the image; fiction and reality in the digital space. It is a work that explores on a corporeal, scenic and sound level the multiple realities that can inhabit two people who relate to each other, and who on many occasions are willing to expose the most hidden part of their truth, while on others they are prepared to capitalise on their actions according to external gazes (+info).

Gerard Erruz: La Coreografia del So

Gerard Erruz presents an immersive electroacoustic work that works on the movement of sound based on ideas from dance. The piece is the result of an artistic research focused on gathering strategies and conventions of dance to give meaning to the musical discourse of immersive works (+info).

Arturo Charles

Mutare explores the spatialisation of sound from a choreographic point of view, using dance traces as a starting point for its realisation. The sound textures work as duets that interact in space, these duets converse with each other, interact and develop forming a kind of "sonorous dance" (+info).

Johannes de Silentio: Ofrena Vernal

Presentation and live recording of what will be the album Ofrena vernal, for the Malaga-based label Oigovisiones Label, performing pieces inspired by pagan culture, using techniques of sustained, hypnotic and repetitive notes, typical of ambient drone, records of traditional and ancestral music and prayers; and the hybridisation of errors and imperfect sequences typical of noise and industrial. (+info).

Renata E. Gomes: Listen and be the space

The artist will present her interdisciplinary essay Listen and be the space, which she has been working on for several years. In the form of a hybrid talk with auditions, Renata will talk about the development of her project in the Casa Gomis/La Ricarda, with recordings of spaces and voices taken in this unique building (+info).

Óliver Vinent: Fractals

Fractals is a project in which concepts such as automation, abstraction, the construction of language, non-development, non-existence, the indefinable, infinity, memory and complex numbers, coexist. They end up materialising in an immersive sound composition specifically tailored for Sala Aranyo's 3D audio system, based on improvisation with sound material manipulated live (+info).

Anna Lanau

In her work, Anna Lanau investigates what kind of frequencies produce calmness in us, and why certain low frequencies take our breath away. Her work is an essay based on the memories or sensations that appeal to us, unconsciously and physically when we listen (+info).

Grup de Treball de Ràdio Web MACBA

Since early 2022, three members of the group (Albert Tarrats, Tiago Pina and Roc Jiménez de Cisneros) have been working with and from the RSF Kobol synthesizer at Phonos. Their initial aim was to create music for RWM podcasts, but the residency became a process of speculative musical research in which three very different ways of approaching sound synthesis converge (+info).

Jordi Pallarés: Naces Solo

Jordi Pallarés Barberà (a.k.a jpB), is a sound artist active in the field of performative arts of improvised interest. Naces Solo is the name of a solo action that makes allegory to solipsism (+info).
