The Data Science Summer School at the Barcelona School of Economics provides an overview of the state-of-the-art tools employed in machine learning. Both Vicenç Gómez and Anders Jonsson, professors of the EMAI programme, are teaching the course “Deep Learning and Applications”, an advanced course focusing on specialised topics.

Five intense days in which data scientists will be able to grasp the mathematical and algorithmic concepts underlying deep learning. In particular, participants will obtain the skills to use pre-trained models and optimise new models for various application domains, including computer vision and natural language processing. 

The format combines a morning lecture which aims to provide the main theoretical concepts and a practical session in the afternoon. Each day is focused on a different application domain:

• Monday: Introduction to Deep Learning
• Tuesday: Deep Learning for Computer Vision
• Wednesday: Deep Learning for Natural Language Processing
• Thursday: Deep Learning on Graphs
• Friday: Deep Reinforcement Learning
