Oracle4Girls is an Oracle initiative launched in 2017 with the aim of inspiring girls to study science and technology careers, known as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Encouraging interest in these studies is the great challenge of new education and new professions, and O4G wants to give a boost to the ICT sector where women are underrepresented. The proposed activities are technology workshops aimed at girls from 4 to 16 years old, where they can live a different, fun, creative and "techie" experience, which aims to awaken vocations for ICT among the participants.

Lorenzo Porcaro, researcher at the Music Technology Group (MTG) of the UPF, will organise in the next edition of O4G on 12 February 2022 a workshop entitled "Music Recommendation and Diversity: challenges and opportunities of algorithms":

Nowadays it is very easy to listen to new music by accessing the huge catalogues provided by music streaming platforms (Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, etc.). On these platforms, recommender systems are designed to help us discover new music that we might like, and that we want to listen to. How do these systems work? Are they helping us to broaden our musical tastes, or are they always recommending the same things? How can an algorithm represent the diversity of our musical heritage? These are some of the questions we will investigate during this workshop.
