From September 28, twenty piano students from the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) will participate in a project to study the efficiency in the music learning of the application of learning techniques that have been efficiently used in the sport training to improve some motor habilities. The Institut for Sport Science, de la Johannes Gutenberg-University has developed the learning techniques that will be used in the study, and also collaborates in the project.

The participating students will have to learn a piano composition using different learning strategies during three weeks. During and at the end of that period, the learning process will be evaluated considering different aspects.

Within the multidisciplinary framework of this music education project, the MTG plays a pivotal role. Entrusted with gathering and analyzing data, we focus on recording from midi, audio, and video performances. MTG provides the technical expertise and analytical insight for the quantitative facets of the research. With the guidance of our researchers, including Hyon Kim, Pedro Ramoneda, and Xavier Serra, we're committed to delivering accurate, thorough, and meaningful results to further the objectives of the overall study.

This study is an initiative by the  Institut de Fisiologia i Medicina de l’Art de Terrassa, a pioneer center specialized in the medical care of performance artists.
